THE HARBOUR PLAN – PLOT f,g,h

The Harbour Plan is the next exciting chapter in Folkestone’s regeneration. We want to create a vibrant community that also makes the harbour sustainable for many years to come.

A public exhibition is taking place on Friday May 12th and Saturday May 13th to let local residents know about the plans to transform the harbour. The plan is to create new homes and garden areas, sitting alongside the restored station and the Harbour Arm, as well as a permanent home for the Goods Yard.

A dedicated project team has been working on the plans for many years, and they are keen to hear feedback as the designs continue to evolve. You can also find all the information online here.

Folkestone Harbour & Seafront Development Company will shortly launch its consultation on the second phase of development on the Folkestone Seafront.

The site, known as Plot C1, sits immediately to the east of the first phase, where construction is progressing well. It is an opportunity to bring new architecture, homes and commercial spaces to Marine Parade. New planting, shingle gardens and play areas around the site will enliven the boardwalk.  There will be a new terrace for everyone to enjoy the sea views from.

work on the First phase of the seafront development to start soon

Folkestone Harbour and Seafront Development Company has announced that work will start shortly to build the first 84 homes of the seafront development. Folkestone-based Jenner Contractors Ltd will build this phase at the western end of the site, which received detailed planning permission at the end of 2018.

The new homes will be close to the Leas Lift and Coastal Park and will feature spectacular views out to sea and along the coast. As well as private gardens the development will include shingle gardens that lead to the Boardwalk and to the beach beyond.  A new piazza will be created at the base of the Leas Lift.

SEPTEMBER 2018 – PUBLIC EXHIBITION PLot B

In September 2018 the Folkestone Harbour and Seafront Development Company held a public exhibition on proposals for the first phase of the redevelopment of Folkestone seafront. We invited people to join us at the exhibition to show how our plans are developing.

In 2015 we were granted outline planning consent for a mixed use development.  This included new homes, cafes and restaurants, as well as extensive recreational space. In April 2018 a series of amendments to this planning consent (based on the masterplan) were also approved.

The exhibition was a chance to see our plans and hear about how the seafront is changing, meet the team and get your questions answered. If you were unable to come to the exhibition but would like to find out more, you can download a copy of the boards presented here.
